The residents of Clyde Street are busy preparing for any air-raid attacks this week. They will need to build suitable shelters for their families. Click on the photo to find out more about different shelters. We have been finding out about the evacuation of children from cities and are making a wall display. We are all reading historical fiction novels set during World War Two. In maths we are trying hard to improve our mental maths targets. We are also learning some different methods of addition and subtraction....we have been looking at coins from the 1940's...some of our maths problems may include pennies, thruppenny bits, sixpences and half crowns! In science we will be investigating more reversible changes with melting experiments. This week : Things to remember… Monday – P.E (hockey). Homework out. In our classroom this week…it’s September 1939….the residents of Clyde Street will be making their own identity cards. They will listening to an important radio announcement about some worrying events in Poland.. what will they need to do to prepare for war ? Whatever happens we will be recording it all in our writing journals. This term we are trying hard to improve our handwriting and presentation.
