This term our topic has a WW2 theme and we are using a ‘storyline approach’. This approach involves children inventing their own characters who might have lived in an imaginary street in Glasgow in 1939. We chose our character names last week by researching baby names of the 1930’s, we made the houses and devised ‘family trees’ for our characters. We have decided to call our street ‘Clyde Street’. This week it is the beginning of September 1939. The residents will be listening carefully to their radio sets as some worrying events are happening in Germany… If you have any local stories/artifacts about Kinlochbervie during WW2 or any of you own family stories from elsewhere too they will be really useful for your child’s homework projects :) The picture about links to a BBC Primary History website which will be useful for homework and further reading .
