We had an excellent Peatlands field trip on Friday. Everyone learnt so much about the biodiversity of this special habitat that is on our doorstep!
This week P4-6 will be writing a report about what they learnt. We have been working on some super poems and sea-themed craft work with Mrs Morrison. We look forward to showing it to you on parents’ afternoon soon. P7 have their 4th Goblin Car build day on Tuesday. Mrs Smart will be teaching P4-6 that day. On Wednesday we will all be taking part in our annual ASG Sport Day in Scourie starting at 10 am, everyone is welcome to spectate. P1-3 children join us for races from 1pm. This week we have the final PE session with the ICT Healthy Hearts coaches on Tuesday.
On Friday morning (10-12 noon) we will do some Peatlands science work about 15 minutes’ walk from the school (up the peat tracks.) This will involve using different sampling techniques to investigate the biodiversity of this very important habitat we are so lucky to have on our doorstep! Please see the separate letter about what to bring- wellies are essential for electric fishing! In maths we are beginning some lessons on data handling and solving algebra problems too. We have been writing reports about our Orkney trip and the P4/5 have been learning about sharks. We are also reading and writing different styles of poetry. P6/7 had an excellent trip to Orkney last week. This week we will be busy working on our learning logs for Orkney and producing an Orkney trip display for the corridor.
Meanwhile…P 4/5 have been writing some super sea poems using descriptive vocabulary and repetition for effect. This week they will begin to research and produce a fact file about a mysterious creature from the ocean. On Tuesday we have the third Healthy Hearts session with ICT Football Club youth workers.
